If you’re after personal endorsement, new winemaker Reg Holder feels that the Delheim Shiraz 2008 (R85) is currently showing the best of the estate’s red wines. Expect blackberries, spice and discreet underlying liquorice. The wine is gratifyingly full bodied but is also accessible enough to drink now … no need spend years willing it into submission! This versatile shiraz will make a great braai companion, especially now that spring is here and everyone is going al fresco, or try it with lentil and chourico soup on an evening that still has a chill in the air.
Ps. We love this Kitchen Craft wine bucket from Yuppiechef, for R290.
